a creative dry spell if you will

So on Sunday I had a mummy date with my mum in Harrogate at the knitting and stitching show, Its the first time we had been in years, mainly due to the fact that we both remembered it was on before it was already over...like the last few years

Now in all honesty iv not touched a needle and thread or even a pencil since downing tools at the end of my fashion and textiles degree some 6 months ago! Turns out sometimes you can have too much of a good thing sometimes and to be honest my poor beaten up fingers needed a break and if I'm being even more honest its pretty hard to feel creative when your heart feels pretty beaten up too...I was completely physically and emotionally burned out by the end of my degree and I gave myself a break from all things creative!

I distracted myself with easier things..like work! But there are only so many spreadsheets a girl (with very poor mathematical skills..or interest!) Can take before she needs to get back to some sort of creative distraction, in fact I was so creatively frustrated I was worried that there would be some kind of creative explosion...probably all over Christmas! ....

Forcing back images of too much tinsel I decided something needed to be done!

I was hoping that the knitting and stitching show would be the kick start that I needed to get back on it...I went with a vague idea in mind....embroidery threads! One of my favourite colour pallets in my head and a debit card!

It was a lovely day, I enjoy the odd mummy date or parent date...now that I'm 23 and not a sulky teenager it feels nice to be able to spend some quality time with my parents without wanting to die of embarrassment! Its nice that we can get on occasionally...even nicer when they treat you too tea at Betty's and look genuinely concerned that you were nearly sick on the car journey there, even though they know that this is because you are stupidly hungover

All in all a good day was had by all and when I got home I went straight back to the drawing board!

Consider the creative dry spell officially over, and I'm one happy little bunny again :)
