I can't really call this a proper review because I don't feel like I know enough about things like that to do it properly, or fairly! This is more of a post about how much of a lovely time I had at francos in Almondbury this weekend!...and obviously what I ate :)
Me and my boyfriend had planed to have a date night since it was bank holuday weekend. We usually stay in for these in an attempt to save money and take it in turns to cook. But since it was easter I thought id surprise him and we'd go out for a meal. I chose francos in Almondbury as it's where we went on one of our first dates, its also really close to my house so we could walk there and back and both enjoy a drink.
I love francos, its a lovely little village restraunt, in a lovely little building..like most of the businesses in Almondbury. It does lovely food, slightly italian in theme with plenty of pizza and pasta dishes, but there is a greata la carte menue full of exciting dishes and plenty of fish dishes wich are a personal favorite of mine! :)
They even offer gluten free bread rolls to start..very impressive and ticks a box for me! :)
For starters I went for the spicy king prawns with roasted cherry tomatos. It was absolutely gorgeous...even better that I could mopp up the remaining oil with my bread roll! :)
Tom went for a warm sqid salad with a chilli sauce. I had a cheecky taste and the squid was cooked perfectly! ...not always the case with squid sometimes I think it can be a but chewy and tastless.
For my main I went for grilled sea bass with a spicy tomato sauce on a sweet potato rosti, it was so nice, lots of lovely chilli in the sauce too which gave it a nice kick!
Tom chose the monk fish with prawns in a tomato sauce wich was also really really good...it must have been as I was only allowed a tiny taste of that one before he demolished it!
We were both pretty full at this point but couldn't quite resist the dessert menue. I went for the slightly lighter option of mango sorbet and merangue, which was lovely. Tom decided that regardless of how full he was he deffinatly needed to try the sticky toffee pudding! I must admit it looked amazing...Unfortunately I couldn't do a taste test on this one but he assured me it was delisious! :)
Fat and tipsy we strolled home very happy :)
