festival recovery guide

So it's festival season! We spend hours and hours thinking about what we should take to a festival or camping trip, but give very little thought to how we survive the first day back at work after a weekend full of drinking, partying and no sleep!

The sensible ones will of course have taken the day off and given themselves lots of time to recover properly...and shower!! But what about those of us who didn't have enough holidays left to have that luxury!?

Technically I wasn't at a festival this weekend, I was camping with friends for the Tour De Yorkshire! (Post on this amazing amazing day later!) But there was live music, late nights, a beer tent, camp fire, BBQ and camping. So technically...pretty much a festival!

This is my survival guide for getting through the next day.
  • You will want painkillers, just in case like me you got a bit dehydrated and a bit sun-burnt and have a headache to prove it.These also come in really handy if you did lots of walking (or dancing) and are really really achy!
  • Lots of water! See above!
  • Lots and lots and lots of tea! Tea is my best friend in all situations but particularly ones when I am exhausted and dehydrated and generally just feeling rubbish! Luckily there is no shortage of tea/tea brakes at work! :)
  • After sun- If you forgot the sun cream, or like me put it on a little bit too late. Then after-sun will be a little life savor. I have a completely burnt face right now and after-sun is defiantly helping me look a little bit less like a lobster!
  • Allergy tablets-Usually better to take these at the time, but if your an idiot like me and forgot them then taking one the following day should still help with those horrible, itchy insect bites that could have been prevented! :(
  • Good food- You probably won't have eaten a lot and defiantly not a lot of the right kinds of things so having healthy, filling snacks will do wonders for your energy levels and moral until you can get home for a proper tea!
  • Dry shampoo, hair bobbles, deodorant, perfume, baby-wipes: Help you get through the day until you can have the best bath of your life!!
  • Lip balm: for some reason my lips were absolutely screwed over the weekend, I'm not sure weather this is because of dehydration, too much sun or both! But they are swollen and painful and lip balm is my new best friend right now!
  • A jumper: I don't know about you but when I'm  sun burnt I go from hot to cold quite quickly. Sometimes the office air-con is a lifesaver and sometimes you need a big cosy jumper to keep nice and warm in!
  • Get an early night: I managed about 2 hours sleep on the Saturday night and on top of that a very busy weekend, a lack of sleep like this takes a while to catch up on so do yourself a favor and get as many early nights as possible for the next week to catch up.
  • Memories- I might be feeling a little bit rubbish today, but oh my god! this weekend was amazing, Just thinking about it definitely makes it worth it! :)
Were you at the Tour De Yorkshire!? Where were you?
Any other things that you would have on your list please feel free to share! :)

Thank you for reading!
