So after a really posative week last week I am affraid to say that this weeks post is not quite so great. I fell off the wagon on saturday night and allowed myself to have a large glass of red wine with tea. I can't make excuses for this but I can explain why I decoded to do this and how it has made me view the whole30 diet.
The food on the diet or rather the exclusion of so many food groups has ocassionally been a little bit rubbish but only ever briefly and usually when I am very hungry. Any cravings soon go away once I have eaten a whole30 complient meal.
What I actually struggled with was something I did not anticipate at all. Last week was quite a sressful week for me I am about to start work in a new business and that comes with its fair share of anxiety. It was also a week when tom was away skiing and I massivly underestimated the power of a rock solid support system, at times feeling quite lost.
on top of all of that I was experiencing crazy awful headaches that lasted 3 days! To top that all off I was getting dizzy everytime I stood up. After dooing some reaserch I found out that this was a perfectly normal side effect of the Whole30, but non the less a little bit unpleasant.
Even so I managed to stick to the diet but was finding it increasingly difficult as the days went by. I began to question my reasons for dooing something so extream and came close to quitting completely.
In the end I decided not to quit, but I did realise that something needed to change. I decided to allow myself a glass of red wine (still compliant on the Whole9 diet) I also decided that since I am already very used to cooking food from scratch and the huge health benefits of this. I allowed myself to make tapioca pancakes and tapioca pizza bases, this way my moral got a well needed boost but my digestive system didn't suffer as I was still only eating whole30 compliant foods!
Some may class this as cheating and my whole30 to be over, and thats fine. I am quite happy to continue with my version of this diet knowing that the overall effect and benefit to my body is still very much a posative one. I also feel very confident that with these changes I will be able to keep to this diet well beyond the 30 days! :)
I hope that whatever diet you are dooing it is still working for you and you have managed to overcome any difficulties you may be having, in order to live a sustainable healthy and happy life! :)
Thank you for reading :)
