YSP, A Trip To See The Poppies

This Sunday me and T finally made it to see the Poppies at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

I missed out on a trip to London to see the poppies when they were installed  at the tower of London last year. I even tried to buy one on-line when they were sold off, but they went within hours and I missed out again :(

So I was really happy when I heard that a small section of the exhibit was coming to Breton for six months this Autumn/Winter.

We had been planning to visit for ages and this Sunday we finally made it!

I have been coming to Breton since I was very tiny and it is one of my most favourite places in the world. I feel very lucky to have a place like this right on the doorstep and I love that there is always something new to see as well as old favourites. The grounds are beautiful, particularly in Autumn, which is my favourite time to visit and we got so lucky with the weather!

We wandered round the park looking at some of the other sculptures and then battled our way through the crowds to the poppies. They are certainly popular, I have never seen Breton so busy!

Although there were only a few poppies  (compared to the original display in London) I still really enjoyed seeing them. It was quite sad to hear some people comment that they were really disappointed in the sculpture and I can't help but feel that they might have missed the point a little bit,

After seeing the poppies we carried on our walk through the park by the lake and got some perfect Autumn snaps!

If you live anywhere remotely near YSP then I absolutely recommend a visit! Even if you find the poppies 'disappointing' you can't help but fall in love with the park!

Thank you for reading :)
