I was supposed to write this post way, way back in November but what with Christmas planning and work and what not it sort of got forgotten! However the food and the place are one of my favourites and I couldn't bring myself to forget about it!
For my mum's birthday this year she wanted to try something new. Me and T suggested Soul Kitchen in Holmfirth as it's one of our favourite places to eat, the food is brilliant and pretty much everything can be made gluten free.
Soul Kitchen is pretty informal with a small but friendly dining space above a very cool alternative bar where we kicked off our night with some craft beers and cocktails.
The food is American style 'soul food' and everything from the bread on their burgers to the tomato ketchup is home-made.
Since there was six of us, and we were all so hungry we decided to order the majority of the starters of the menu and share them so that we could have a try of as much of everything as possible!
I have also previously ordered the burger in a gluten free cornbread bun and the deep fried chicken and I couldn't fault any of them.
With simple comfort-food done so well, a lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere and plenty of drinks flowing we had an absolutely brilliant night! So good in-fact that me and T sneaked back the next day for some cheeky hangover snacks!
Let me know if you have been before and what you think?
Thank you for reading :)

For my main I opted for the mac and cheese with added pulled-pork and chillies, topped with some super rich Gorgonzola cheese which was amazing but incredibly filling! (maybe we overdid it on the starters a tiny bit!)
