If you haven't been to Manchester your defiantly missing out...if you have been to Manchester and you don't like it...then you just didn't do it right....and if you tell me that Leeds is better.....your just wrong!

Manchester is about an hour from Huddersfield by car, about 40 minutes by train, and the journey between the two is beautiful. Its all little cottages and big mills clinging to the sides of a steep valley that weaves its way through the Pennines and bridges the divide between Yorkshire and Lancashire.

I'm from Yorkshire 'born and bred' as the saying goes and as is compulsory for any proper Yorkshire folk i am fiercely proud of that fact! However my entire family...(on both sides for several generations) are all pretty much from the other side of the hills. And so I have always known Manchester a lot better even than most of the streets around my house.

now I'm not the biggest 'city' person, i don't think i could ever live in one as i would miss fields and hills and general green-ness way to much, but if i really really had to, id choose Manchester, every time! it is without a doubt thee most friendly city iv been to, people are actually genuinely happy about living there..fact!

Its got an amazing music scene, a brilliant reputation for night life (that included the infamous Canal street) and the shopping ranges from super expensive and high end to brilliantly student-y vintage warehouses in the Norther Quarter. It really does have everything, and its smaller and easier to get around in than London!

I feel super lucky now to have friends who live there so i can pop over for amazing visits and still get to come home for my fix of green at the end of all the craziness. The best of both worlds! :)

I can't mention Manchester without mentioning my new favorite place..probably in the whole world right now, or at least in Great Britain, its about as close as i am going to get to being back on holiday right now, and its cheaper than plane tickets!

The Oust house is no secret, in fact I'm pretty sure i am the last person in the world who hasn't been at this point! However it has been on my to do list for a while now, and this weekend i finally made it there!  It's basically a ski lodge, built right in the middle of Springfield's, surrounded by huge office buildings and very expensive shops!

But step into the huge courtyard or order a drink in the small wooden bar and your back in Italy in a Refugio  on the side of a mountain. I nearly weed with excitement when i saw that they had Aperol on sale! ( a separate post dedicated to this lovely drink coming at some point in the future!)

I think all the excitement eventually went to my head and I somehow became rather merry very quickly...a word of advice, don't buy cider just because it has your name on it and not check the percentage of alcohol it contains! its fare to say i spent at least an hour wandering the streets of Manchester looking for Chinese food and cigarettes...or so i have been reliably informed because to tell you the truth i cannot remember that much of it!

If you've already been to The Oust house please make me super jealous with all your stories about it!?

much much more to come on the subject of Manchester in the future, but for now its bath time and then bed for me :)

(The reason there aren't any more photos is because i was surrounded by people who seemed to be way cooler than myself, so in a desperate attempt to fit in and be cool too I tiered to refrain myself from taking photos of everything! It was difficult and i regret it now...I'l have to go back and get more!)
