3 Days in Amsterdam. Day 3

Today was our last day in the city and we headed over to the Anne Frank house for my pick of activity. I understand that this is not everyone's idea of a 'holiday activity' but having read the diary and a lot of other books about the second world war (something really geeky that i am really into!) i really wanted to go.

we que'd for about half an hour...pretty good considering the length of the que, but it moved really quickly, and the sun was shining which always helps! it costs 9 euros each, which compared to a lot of the other museums and attractions is very cheap. It took us about 2 hours in total to look around it all.

It was horrible and incredibly moving all at the same time, by the end i was fighting back the tears and desperate for a hug but i am so glad we managed to go and see it. I really recommend that everyone should go.

We were all in need of some light relief after this and what better place to find this than at Amsterdam Zoo! it was a bit of a walk...but then so was everything else on this weekend!

The zoo was 20 euros and was worth every penny! the highlight being the monkey room! Yes this was a big big room full of tiny little monkey (and some lizards and birds) running around. it was amazing, i feel in love with an adorable little chap and never ever wanted to leave!

Unfortunately we had to as we had reservations at the IceBar (id recommend buying tickets/booking a time  before you turn up at the bar) you can buy tickets for it at pretty much all of the ticket offices around the city. It cost 16.50 and you get one free cocktail in the main bar and two drinks in the ice bar included in the price.

The main bar is great, lots of polar bears and penguins! and the cocktails are amazing! :) you weight in here until your time to go in the IceBar. you get called up 10 minuted before your time to put big coats and gloves on and then you are allowed in. a word of warning, (although this should be obvious) It is minus 10 in the bar and that is ridiculously cold, you are only allowed in for a maximum of 40 minutes and most people don't stay in that long! we were the last to leave! so wrap up warm!

This pretty much finished us off! it had been a very long weekend! so after a few more touristy shots on another 'I Am sterdam' it was time for bed....setting our alarms for a 5 am wake up call in time for our 9:40 flight!

I would absolutely recommend Amsterdam to everyone!! Its so beautiful and there is so much to do! It is by no means a restful holiday and you will probably come home feeling like half a person!...i defiantly needed a few days to recover completely! but it is seriously worth it! i can't weight to go back for another visit! :)
