Day two started hangover free! Thank god as it was about 7am and we had a big big day ahead. It was one of my friends birthdays so he picked the itinerary and we headed to the red light district, via a lovely boat ride in the morning sun! (about 12.50 euros each for an hours boat ride-we went on the orange line)
The boat ride was exactly what we needed after our bust day the day before and i think everyone appreciated the sit-down sight seeing!
I was really intimidated by the thought of the red light district...but 'when in Amsterdam' I guess. we went at about 1 in the afternoon so i think it was a lot less full-on than if we had been at night. It was interesting as it was so completely different to anything you would ever see in this country! Whilst we were here we visited 'Red light Secrets' The museum of prostitution.( 7 euros each) I wasn't sure how seriously to take this museum at first but it did have a small message about sex trafficking in Europe which i found interesting, it raised the question of how to stop trafficking happening....I couldn't help by thinking this might be a lot easier if the red light district didn't facilitate it so much, but I'm getting a bit deep now so we can move on.
...we did and had some of the famous dutch chips in a cone! :) after this we thought it would be rude not to attempt to sample some weed, however drugs aren't really my scene and so marijuana lollipops are about as hard core as we got on this occasion! (they tasted pretty vile!)
Keeping with the theme the next stop was the sex museum (8 euros each)...this was entertaining, if not ever so slightly pointless. we had a good giggle though!
Home to rest our very very sore feet before hitting bulldog again for a night of karaoke and cocktails for a bit of birthday celebrating!
