The Pink Elephant

We finally made it to the Pink Elephant! and even more exciting we can tick the first restaurant off our to do list! although it was such yummy curry that I feel like putting it straight back on the list and going again....soon! :)

It was a Saturday night and we hadn't gotten around to booking until about 6 o'clock that night (yes, clearly we are both amazingly organised!) luckily when we rang up they did have a table and were able to squeeze us in at 8:15. It was probably a very good idea that we did that though as it was really busy and I don't think we would have gotten a table if we had just turned up!

It was busy and there was a nice atmosphere, but our food wasn't delayed and the service was great, our waiter was really nice! even when i decided to be a bit difficult with my ordering! :)

We were feeling particularly starving and maybe a teeny tiny bit hungover, so we decided to go for 6 spicy poppadoms (3 each) and a pickle tray to start...it would be rude not to really!

Then for my favorite dish of the night and possible one of the nicest Indian dishes I have had in a long time, a mixed seafood starter to share. we had two generous sized pieces of fish each and prawns, each covered with a different spice blend...i could have eaten twice as much of this and been over the moon!

The menu was pretty big and there were at least 10 special dishes that I had never heard of, each and every one of them looked amazing! but i think I was a bit spoiled for choice and panicked!

I decided to go for a Korma...mainly because, despite it being a bit of a standard curry dish, when it is done right it is absolutely my favorite thing ever! It is also my cheeky way of judging the standard of a new curry house. If you try the same dish (korma) in each one than you have a better idea of how good a place is!

However Korma is well known for being a very mild dish for haters of spice! I am most definitely not one of these people so I asked my waiter very nicely if he could turn up the heat on my dish a bit and he very kindly obliged!

My boyfriend decided to be a bit more adventurous than me and went for something that neither of us has ever tried before, a lamb Kharai. This was definitely a brilliant choice! I even liked the lamb and I'm not usually a fan of lamb in a curry. However we both agreed that it would have been even better if we had picked to have it with prawns instead, so that is definitely on my list for next time!

Neither of us were drinking but we didn't hold back on what we ordered, but we were both really pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived! My lovely boyfriend was even extra lovely and didn't put up too much of a fuss when I asked if i could please pay half! :)

I'd definitely recommend this place and I will definitely be going back, can't really ask for more than that! :)
