We woke up on the sunday morning and thanks to the hotel serving sunday breakfast from 7:30 till 10:30 there was no rush to get up we had cups of english breakfast tea and played around with the smart tv before going down for more tea and a continental spread in the trafford sweet.
Our plans for the day were a bit up in the air and in the end we decided that our planned trip to the imperial war museum in salford was a bit ambitious for this trip. Instead we headed to picadilly gardens, calling in at manchester art gallery on the way to shelter from the rain and have a nosey at some of the exhibitions.
I've been to piccadilly gardens a lot, usually just passing through on the way to wherever else im headed, but this time I was on a mission. I wanted to find the bronze tree, a war memorial to all of the people of manchester who lost tives lives during the bombing of manchester in the second world war, i've be meaning to pay it a visit for a while and find the names of the 7 family members that are written on there.
After this we took a walk through the norther quarter, one of my favorite parts of manchester and I pointed out all the cute little cafes bars shops and restaurants that we could visit in the future.
By this point we were both getting pretty hungry and we decided it was time to head to our final planed destination of the weekend, reds true barbeque on albert square. The one in leeds has been on our foodie list for a while now but we finally got to the one in manchester.
We sat and soaked in the super cool surroundings, listened to country music and drank cider and completly overdosed on meat! It was AMAZING! I had the beef brisket and pulled pork combo with extra chips and like a little pig I wolfed down the lot in about half an hour accompanied by some tasty coldslaw and the best hot sauce iv had in a while. Their tripple 6 hot sauce litterally kicks the nandos black sauce out of the water (because lets face it thats pretty disapointing for a hot sauce!)I then sat back and nursed my huge food baby whilst I watched tom struggle through a mountain of ribs and wings, at one point im sure he was sweating! They were to die for and I did try to help him but I had reached my food limit and I had to concede.
We then headed for the train and full up with so much food I fell fast asleep on toms shoulder all the way home. The perfect end to the perfect weekend, and feeling like the happiest, lukiest girl in the world! :)
How would you spend your perfect weekend?
