manchester mini break, part 1

I'm absolutly shattered, curled up on the couch with a lovely big cup of tea and resting my rather soar feet after the most lovely weekend ever :)

A few months ago my boyfriend got a bit sick of me wittering on about all my favorite manchester haunts and all the cool places I thought he'd love and suggested that we just book ourselves a little weekend break! :)

We found a good deal for the midland hotel and decided to make it happen! it came around so quickly and before I knew it we were packing our bags!

We got a train and arrived at manchester oxford road just after 11, making good use of our hotels concierge service we checked our bags in and headed off to the shops for a little bit of retail therapy.

For lunch there was only one place we both really wanted to go, the oast house in spinningfields, sorry if you're as bored as tom is that I keep mentioning it but it really is one of my very favorite places ever! and I had to take him to see it! :) I had the half chicken, chips and a green salad wich was delicious, and tom had the most amazing looking burger!

We then met my friends there for a good catch up over ciders and larger. It's always pretty busy but we got a table within 20 minutes of arriving and the food arrived really quickly! It does start getting a lot busier around 3 o'clock but it probably didn't help that it was pouring with rain outside, so their lovely beer garden was kind of out of order!

It was then time to go check into our hotel! I was a little bit over-excited im not gonna lie! The room was huge, way bigger than I was expecting and the bed was ridiculously comfy. we spent a couple of hours drinking our complimentary champagne and chocolates before getting ready to go out for more food :)

We were supposed to go to dough in the northern quater, for amazing gluten free pizzas! :) but I may have been a bit unorganised and forgotten to book. Tom managed to get us a table at carluccios in spinningfields instead and I am so so glad that he did! They have a separate gluten free menu...and it's huge! :) I was seriously spoilt for choice.

In the end I went for an amazing bruchetta to start followed be gorgeous gluten free pasta with chilli, garlic and clams, it was fantastic. Tom went for the lightly fried calamarie that made me seriously jealous and a yummy looking fish stew for his main. We were both pretty full of lovely food and wine but they had gluten free chocolate fondant on the menu and considering I'm usually never able to have desserts like this I managed to make some room ;) tom had vaniila and pistashio ice cream...I was allowed a little try and it was amazing too! :)

We went on to deansgate locks for a couple of drinks afterwards before going back to our hotel to crash after a seriously amazing day out! Ready to do it all over again in the morning! :)

Any recomendations of more places to eat in manchester are very welcome! :)
