How not to spray tan!

...Or how I got my blog name. When I t comes to my appearance I like to put the effort in to a certain extent, but unfortunately that effort only goes so far before I get bored and stop caring.

So as you can imagine this is not great when you have a spray tan, or any kind of tanning really and especially when you have your own spray tan tent/machine etc etc.

For this reason I do not tend to use fake tan all that often, but I am incredibly pale and in summer, sometimes this is essential! If I'm going on a night out i tend to use Xen Tan the night beofre. But If I'm going to something a bit more special, Like Tom's little sisters 21st birthday party for example! Then I will get out my spray tan machine and tent! :)

The tanning itself goes pretty well, my sister has got her technique pretty much down by now and through trial and error we have found a really good formula, at a percentage we have both agreed is just the right amount of colour, without being too orange! In fact the biggest problem is getting the pop up tent folded up again afterwards.

The problems start when the tanning is done and you are stood in nothing but some tiny pants, in your freezing cold conservatory weighting for it all to dry! This is when i get bored and can't be bothered anymore. The result is usually black hands and very very black feet, covered in dribble lines where all the excess has run down. NOT a good look!

Luckily we have been doing this for long enough now that we have come up with some simple tips, in an attempt to stop this happening! I thought I'd include a very quick 'how-to' guide in this post!

1.I don't like to moisturize right before a tan as i worry that it would react with the tan and turn green, instead I usually moisturize the night/morning beofre to ensure my skin is nice and smooth.

2. Then just beofre my tan I do all of the standard pre-tan prep. I have a shower; shave, exfoliate and wash of any perfumes and deodorants that can definitely interfere and go a lovely green colour.

3. I then tie my hair up and put a hairband on to protect most of my hair and have my spray tan. Afterwards I stand as still as possible and use the air blower to dry off, I also have a tanning mit handy, to deal with any big drips!

4. After this I take a baby wipe and place it between the palms of my hands and rub until all of the excess has been removed. It's also worth keeping some ear buds handy as tan inside and around your ears always gets forgotten about but is a very difficult look to try and pull off!

5. Finally I do the same with my feet, ensuring that ever last drop of excess tan has been removed! Before putting on some very old and baggy pajamas and avoiding sitting on my mums 'nice furniture'.
