Ever since I was little music has been so, so important to me. I inherited my obsession from my dad and have spent the last 24 years developing a very electing taste in music.
Throughout the years I have picked up a few special songs or albums that mean a lot to me and remind me of special moments.
Good-buy Mr tambourine man - When I was very little I had a toy that stuck to the side of my bed. The tune was Mr tambourine man by Bob Dylan and my dad used to sing the lyrics to me to help me get to sleep. That song is part of one of my very first memories and it will always be special.
The lighthouse family - This is less a song and more an entire album. My parents dinner party album to be precise. Throughout the 90's my parents had a lot of dinner parties and for at least a few years this was there go to album. I remember the smell of amazing food, candles being lit and being sent to bed after saying hello to all of their guests. It is one my all time favourite albums and will always remind me of special occasions and of home.
You're so vein - Another album of my parents was a 70's gold album full of classic songs. This track in particular stands out, probably because me and my sister chose to play it on repeat a lot of the time.
Mambo Number 5 - Probably because me and my sister dedicated a good few months to coming up with, learning and quite possibly performing a dance routine to this track repeatedly. It will always be a feel good tune.
The Tide-The tide is a song that a friend sent to me over MSN when I was about 16 and going through my angsty teenage phase. This song was perfect and at the time I though it was amazing. It stands out mainly because of my favourite line: Heaven is not the place you go when you die, its that moment in life when you actually feel alive'
Colbie Caillat- Another song sent to me by a friend, I know she is pretty big now and this song is so well known but at the time I had no idea who she was and just remember this song making me happy. It still makes me smile so much now and I find myself playing it a lot when I need cheering up.
Stuck In a Rut - I Started listening to the Stereophonics in a big way about 2 years ago. (Having previously thought not a lot of them...ooops!) this song really hit a cord with me at a time that I was feeling a little bit lost and I play it very loudly on my ipod whenever I need some motivation!
What are your music memories?
Thank you for reading :)
