And relax....finally made it back to my own bed after a crazy whistle-stop weekend.
On Friday night I was saved from my usual 2 bus rides home and instead picked up and taken straight off up to Newcastle for the start of one busy weekend!
We spent one night with family before continuing on with them up to Glasgow for my cousins big 21st celebrations!!!
We spent Saturday evening drinking and eating way too much seriously amazing food in a very lovely restaurant called The Ubiquitous Chip!! It sits on a little cobbled back street covered in fairy lights and surrounded by equally lovely looking bars in a part of Glasgow I have no idea where exactly, but its definitely worth figuring out because I'm planning to make another visit!
Now I'm a huge fan of Scotland...and thanks to my best friend relocating there when were 7 I have had the greatest excuse to visit it a lot over the last 15 years!!
In fact I spent the entire 6 hour journey home trying to figure out why I don't already live there! (having previously made two failed attempts to relocate in the past)
However I do feel a little bit guilty..I have visited Glasgow only twice before and then only briefly (once was literally just to go to the cinema) unfortunately I shunned this city in favour of the bright and sexy lights of Edinburgh (It has a castle and a zoo!) Declaring it the only city in the world that I could ever live in! (with the exception of Dunblane, but that's a bit different)
I now wish to retract that statement and apologise publicly to Glasgow for making what i now believe to be a hasty and clearly misguided decision. I was only able to spend a few hours in the city but already I may be in love with its Georgian architecture, cute little back streets and very cool and plentiful bars...not to mention the Scottish taxi drivers who are always a pleasure and again did not disappoint.
I didn't get to see a lot as time really was scares, I spent this morning at the botanical gardens...given that it was two minutes walk from my hotel and it was the most perfect autumn day it really would have been rude not too!
If, like me you find yourself in Glasgow for the shortest amount of time and your lucky enough to have nice weather then its definitely worth a visit, although thinking about it maybe I'm not the best tour guide of a city I barley know...I do however now have an open invite to return and believe me this is one offer I will not be refusing.
Glasgow you've been beautiful...thank you and goodnight
